ZMI ALPHA:Julian Edelman reacts to Joe Thuney’s free agency departure

A cornerstone of the New England Patriots offense for the past five seasons, Joe Thuney will wear a different uniform in 2021. The veteran guard, who played 90 of a possible 90 games as a Patriot and won two Super Bowl rings, has decided to join the Kansas City Chiefs on a record-breaking five-year contract worth up to $80 million.

The departure robs New England’s offense not just of one of its best players, but also one of its most experienced players. Another one of those — wide receiver Julian Edelman — therefore took to social media shortly after Thuney’s agent Mike McCartney broke the news to bid him farewell.

“Mr. Consistency. Sad to see you go, but we’ll always have the memories bubs!” Edelman wrote as the caption of a photo of the two. They were teammates ever since Thuney arrived in New England as a third-round draft pick back in 2016.
